I FORGOT!Yep, it is true. I just forgot to blog yesterday...
Is it because I had nothing to say. Oh please... I always have something to say.
On the way home from the dental torture office I was writing notes as my mouth was full of gauze. I had stuff to say then. So, why did I forget to blog? Dunno..
I guess that I ran outta steam or time or I got it! Blogger's Block! How is that for a pitiful excuse.
I have been so busy having a love affair with my saltwater cup and remembering to take my antibiotic, no, that isn't a good excuse.
Hey, I don't need an excuse. I just didn't do it. I forgot.
We forget all sorts of things everyday. Some very important things too. Then we make excuses. Why? Just tell the truth. I forgot.
Sometimes the truth isn't always good.
My daughters absence excuses are a good example. We'd miss the bus. I would make up an illness for a note. The 2 times that I told the truth, "we missed the bus and I didn't have the gas money to drive her there" I got "Unexcused absences". Now to me, that is like a punishment for telling the truth.
There are also other examples of where the truth wouldn't be best. Let's say your were speeding to get to an appointment and get pulled over by a State trooper. He asks "Did you know you were speeding?" and you reply "Hell yeah I did, I'm late and I really don't have time to talk to you about it either right now." Now, really, where do you think that would get you. Not to your appointment. That is the for certain. Definitely a ticket and maybe even a new appointment in court! Or even better tell the trooper "Yeah, and did you know that YOU were speeding to stop me?" That will really make points. (on your license)
There are many other examples like that. Endless really.
So, does that mean that we shouldn't tell the truth. Absolutely not. The truth is always (OK, most always) best. I have impressed upon my little girl that the truth is always best. I tell her that I may not be happy with the truth, but, she will be in a heck of a lot less trouble than if I catch her in a lie and I have stuck to that. Biting my tongue at times, but, I like to think that she tells the truth for the most part anyway. Far from perfect.
I know I prefer to be told the truth. I'll borrow this saying...
"Do these jeans make me look fat?" Answer "No, your fat makes you look fat.". Probably not what I want to hear, but, it is the truth and that is something I would want to hear.
Don't hold back. Tell people the truth. Chances are you will only end up in the hospital or jail once or twice in your lifetime. But, at least you can say, you were honest.
So, honestly, I have to get to work now.
Til next time...
